Business Profile:

Trinidad Guardian Newspaper

The Trinidad Guardian newspaper was first published in September 1917, which makes it the longest surviving daily newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Guardian Newspapers is an institution which has formed part of the Trinidad and Tobago landscape for the past 90 years. The role of the Guardian has been taken seriously by its founders. The masthead signature is that of the proverbial Guardian Angel, which upon scrutiny reveals that she holds a pen as her sword ... This explains the tagline “the Guardian of Democracy”.

At the core, we remain true to our purpose, with daily coverage of the full gamut of News, Sports, Lifestyle and Entertainment.  We are very proud to provide the most local content of any competing newspaper in Sport and Entertainment.  The Guardian Newspapers also distinguishes itself with the coverage and analysis of Finance, Business and the Economy. The Trinidad Guardian possesses a modern and unique look and feel and also includes publications such as CarTalk, gieNETWORK, Distinguished Gentlemen and recent publication METRO Magazine have also helped to build new reader segments.

In 2008 the Guardian modernised its production facilities by investing in state of the art equipment, which allows the company to bolster its production process, facilitate the highest quality standards of production output and deliver a variety of niche products to our readers and advertisers in a rapidly changing market.

The Guardian also archives rich historical content, in which avid readers can lose track of time browsing the vast range of stories, photos and events of national interest. The Guardian has also embarked on a project which will make this rich archive readily available online for the benefit of schools, governmental agencies and other organisations. Currently, full newspaper articles are available online dating back to one and a half (1 ½) years on the www.guardian.co.tt website.

The Trinidad Guardian looks forward to the future by building our brand through the strength of our news coverage, niche-reading and interactivity. We also look forward to continuing to service the needs of our readers and advertisers in the upcoming years.
