Group Industrial Relations / Employee Relations Manager

ANSA McAL is seeking an experienced Group Industrial Relations / Employee Relations Manager to lead our organization’s IR/ER initiatives. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continually enhancing our Group’s IR Management Plan. You will work closely with Sector HR Managers to create a positive, compliant, and proactive employee relations environment across the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial Relations Management: Drive the development and execution of the Group’s IR Management Plan to maintain a strong IR climate aligned with business objectives.
- Collective Agreements: Draft and finalize Collective Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding, ensuring alignment with Group HR standards, and secure necessary approvals.
- Negotiations: Lead and manage negotiations, ensuring they are executed promptly within approved parameters; escalate challenges as necessary.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage potential industrial action risks, working closely with Sector HR Managers and ER/IR Leads.
- Compliance and Advisory: Oversee grievance processes, Ministry of Labour matters, and Industrial Court cases, providing expert recommendations and updates to the Chief HR Officer/ Chief of Shared Services Officer.
- Strategic Leadership: Spearhead Group-wide IR initiatives and projects, offering advice on best practices and recommending policy adjustments as needed.
- Training and Development: Conduct targeted IR training in line with the IR Management Plan, promoting a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Legislative Updates: Stay current with evolving legislation and case law, ensuring compliance and identifying potential impacts on our operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law, or a related field (Master’s Degree is a plus).
- Professional Experience: 7-8 years in industrial/employee relations or a related field, ideally within a complex, multi-sector organization. Proven experience working at an executive or strategic advisory level is essential.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Familiarity with HR software and data analytics is an asset.
