Job Summary
The Production Engineer assists in the operations of the Plant by providing engineering support to meet customer demand and operational requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Develop the annual departmental budget and submit recommendations on capital expenditure projects/upgrades.
- Supervise Operators and assigned staff; ensures staff results are achieved by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Provide recommendations for re-engineering and improvement to plant equipment and processes; troubleshoot process problems and take corrective action.
- Monitor all production processes and verify that they are kept within standard operating procedures (SOP) and standard operating conditions and limits (SOCL).
- Verify that quality control measures are maintained in all production areas.
- Evaluate Plant economics to determine optimum operating efficiencies.
- Assist in the development of new projects and project implementation.
- Re-design/modify existing plants to improve process and reliability.
- Prepare monthly and daily reports for all production areas.
- Carry out periodic assignments for quality improvement, cost effective measures, auditing and specific training as assigned.
- Ensure proper checks and balances are done for all raw materials and finished goods.
- Manage production in accordance with set guidelines.
- Conduct safety inspection in production centre in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine equipment function testing to fulfill sales demand for finished product.
- Manage raw materials, spare parts and finished goods stock and reconcile report within specified timeframe.
- Update and maintain production logs (hard copies) and required entries on the Company’s ERP system (D365).
- Performs tasks in conformance to quality, health, safety and environmental policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as required by the job function.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc. Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years work experience in a manufacturing environment at a supervisory level.
- Must be able to analyse and synthesize information to understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision making.
- Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence.
- Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas effectively using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to gain understanding.
- Ability to manage employee performance for success where goals are created, competencies are incorporated, and constructive feedback is provided for continuous improvement.
- Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing a diverse and competing workloads
