Job Description:

  • Creates the Content plan and oversees the design of all non-news content for the Guardian newspaper.
  • Responsible for the implementation of policies for the Commercial Management of the Guardian newspaper, including standards of output and ensures team compliance to same
  • Responsible for setting and delivering on financial targets as well as budget development and monitoring
  • Develops and delivers compelling, innovative and integrated commercial strategies that will resonate with our clients, and that provide long term commercially viable models
  • Conducts market research and analysis to create/source engaging content for audience generation and growth-oriented material.
  • Oversees product development, identifying new market opportunities, determining the optimal pricing to balance profit with customer/client satisfaction, and directing marketing operations.
  • Responsible for setting and delivering on financial targets as well as budget development and monitoring
  • Has non- news editorial responsibility for the content of the newspaper and is required to exercise sound editorial judgement and holds oversight of the Traffic Team for the related platform.
  • Ensures that the newspaper complies with the laws of the land, industry codes and best practice.
  • Responsible for the timely commissioning of content from external sources
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management
  • Builds and maintains profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Leads diverse teams (marketing, sales, content, brand management etc.) to deliver on team revenue targets
  • Complies with processes and policies as set out and stated in Company’s Policy Manual.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Any other related duties, which may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\\\’s degree in Marketing, Business management or a related discipline
  • Master’s degree would be considered an asset
  • 5 years’ experience in a strategic marketing role
  • Experience in dealing with international markets
  • Solid experience with online marketing tools and web-based technologies
  • Experience in Digital and Traditional Media desirable
  • Proven experience in sales and managing relationships with key clients
