Position: Plastics Superintendent

Location: Pt. Lisas Industrial estate, Savonetta / Trinidad and Tobago

Job Summary: The Plastics Superintendent primary responsibilities are maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electronic and electrical systems in the Plastics department. Additionally, the Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day management of the department.

Job Description:

  • Have knowledge and work in compliance with the OSHA Act 2004 of Trinidad & Tobago
  • Promoting safety awareness within the department
  • Enforcing and taking corrective actions with regards to safety
  • Making recommendations on safety issues
  • Ensuring that all safety equipment in the department is in service and if necessary, take necessary corrective action
  • Ensuring efficient and proper housekeeping practices
  • Issuing Safe Work Permits
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, accidents and incidents
  • Implement cost control measure to ensure that wastage and rejects are kept to a minimum
  • Ensures effective operation of machines through shift leaders and operators
  • Coordinating activities between Shift Leaders, Operators and Maintenance
  • Making recommendations for re-engineering and improvement to machinery and processes
  • Troubleshoot process and machinery problems and make corrective decisions quickly and under rapidly changing conditions
  • Preparation of machines and molds according to production demands and schedule
  • Ensuring that all quality control equipment are functional at all times
  • Ensure that all quality control measures are observed and practiced at all times
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of various training in technical safety and quality programs

Facilitating new employee orientation

  • Communicate company policy and philosophies to workers keeping them informed on matters that concern them and assist in work-related problems
  • Verifies employees attendance on time cards
  • Monitor and control attendance, call outs and overtime
  • Conduct regular shift meetings and toolbox talk as per schedule
  • Ensures that appropriate paperwork is completed and submitted for the various types of leave and call out shift changes
  • Maintains and promote high morale and team harmony
  • Conducting quarterly performance appraisals and making recommendations based on results
  • Overseeing maintenance and contractor activities in the Plastic Department

Qualifications:

  • Computer Literate (Word, Excel)
  • Under graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • 3-5 Years working experience manufacturing facility.
