Position: Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary:

An advanced professional in the systems & process design within an implementation space, preferably having sound experience on insurance software implementation projects. Responsible for soliciting, understanding, and documenting the customer\’s business requirements, processes and workflows developing both written and visual depictions of requirements and process flows.

Candidates will work collaboratively with business and information technology groups to create, maintain, and support SSRS reports test cases in a compliant, regulated environment.

Job Description:

  • Examine current and new business procedures while gathering, analyzing and documenting business rules, specifications and requirements, and establishing system protocols
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the division to understand business drivers, gaps, and issues to create relevant data strategies and BI capabilities
  • Conducts interviews to gather customer requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
  • Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures as may be required
  • Lead workstream and user requirements gathering and translate them into specifications for business intelligence solutions and workflows
  • Deliver precise functional specifications to include functional hierarchy, workflow, business rules, interface design and definitions, outstanding issues, data analysis, and data mapping to clients and development staff
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures
  • Guide the developers in the team to implement functional requirements and review the software developed by the team members, working with the various testers to test developed functionality
  • Deliver high-quality and timely dashboards, reports, visualizations, and self-service reporting capabilities using Oracle, SQL, SSRS and Power BI
  • Recommend and institute best practice tools and methodology towards standardization of BA deliverables and procedures, and collaborating with Development and QA Leads to uphold and improve Agile processes
  • Story mapping – capture description of features from the end-user’s point of view, created within the functional requirements based on specifications and having compiled use cases
  • Produce and/or update current state and future state process maps, data flows diagrams, process models, and other technical documentation
  • Identify and develop key metrics that represent performance and progress on the business and technical tracks
  • Troubleshoot production issues; identify root cause and fixes, escalating and reporting accordingly
  • Collaborate with team members to provide end user documentation and training materials
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks within a fast paced, objective oriented environment
  • Participates in Client meetings, lead technical review meetings with team and/or client as required
  • Responsible for providing accurate and timely communication of the status of assignment and the resolution of problems to the appropriate parties following established policies and procedures
  • Monitors workstream progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results where and as needed, or as directed by the Project Manager

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in information systems, computer science, or related field (Master’s preferred) with 5 or more years’ experience in the field
  • Background in a software-oriented, technical environment
  • Experience with various programming languages including Java, C, SQL, Oracle etc.
  • Proven track record in Software Documentation, Software Development Process, Software Requirements, Analyzing Information, Teamwork, Software Maintenance, Promoting Process Improvement
  • Practical experience in projectized environments
  • Highly proficient in developing complex, workflows, process maps, test cases and mock-ups for reports
  • Ability to create test cases, perform scenario analysis, document business rules, perform gap analyses, and establish system protocols
  • Strong MS Visio skills
  • Ability to integrate data from multiple, disparate sources
  • Possess an outstanding ability to communicate data, context, and implications to business and technology stakeholders
  • Demonstrate clarity, depth, and relevance when problem solving
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, as well as under own initiative
  • Good working knowledge of software development life cycle
