Position: Maintenance Planner

Job Summary: Support to the Preventative Maintenance system and Maintenance Team Leader in Identifying, Prioritizing, Planning and Scheduling maintenance work to keep Plant Equipment operating as required.

Job Description:

Planning:
• Specific work to be performed.
• Procedures to ensure work are done safely and effectively.
• Skills needed to ensure work can be completed successfully.
• Tools required ensuring work is done efficiently.
• Spare parts and materials required to be replaced or installed

 Collection of data:

  • Organization and archiving of information related to equipment failures and performance by each item of equipment in order to improve maintenance plans and schedules for the equipment.
  • Improve corrective action responses to minimize repair time when failures occur.
    • Improve spare parts usage to minimize wasteful consumption of spares and lubricants.
    • Provide training and teaching histories for Technicians on the equipment.
    • Enable economic decisions regarding repair or rebuild versus capital replacement of equipment.
    Prioritization:
    • Ensuring that preventative work is performed regularly on equipment critical to production before non-critical equipment.
     Scheduling:
    • Setting dates and times for work that minimize impact on production but still ensure successful completion of work.
    • Co-ordination and communication with production supervisors and managers about work to be performed.
    • Assignment of personnel to do work in accordance with skills required and rosters.
    Support: Support to Maintenance Team Leader and co-ordination with Stores Supervisor in ensuring that spare parts inventory is optimized to ensure:
    • No lost production time due to unavailability of parts.
    • No excessive inventory of spares or excessive spares obsolescence.
    • Least cost purchasing of spares that meet quality specifications for performance through open vendor competition.
    • Sound economic decisions regarding spares performance and life versus cost.
     Reporting:
  • Report daily and monthly on plant status and make recommendations regarding the operations of the plant and equipment
  • Safety:
  • Ensure proper safety and housekeeping practices while executing duties to achieve 0% loss time due to accidents.
    Flexibility:
  • To perform other related duties as may, from time to time, be allocated to him by his Supervisor or the person in charge.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in maintenance in Manufacturing environment.
