On the 31st May 2019, Berger Paints Trinidad Limited (BPTL), which is majority owned by the ANSA McAL Group, and its Recognized Majority Union, the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW), signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the cessation of operations of BPTL.
The Group wishes to advise the trade and its customers that BPTL will cease its manufacturing operations in Trinidad. Product availability in the market will not be affected as a result.
This business has been in a loss-making position for several years.
This decision places the paint business, which will now be distributed by ANSA Coatings Ltd, in a better position to build efficiencies and to become more competitive in both local and export markets, whilst ensuring no compromise to the brand’s quality statement.
The company recognizes that this decision will have a significant impact on its employees and has therefore agreed to make a lumpsum payment to each employee in order to minimize the impact of this decision.
The Group has also offered counselling and financial advice if desired.
