Mrs. Margaret Gomes, Executive Assistant to the ANSA McAL Group Chairman and Chief Executive and Mr. A. Norman Sabga, Group Chairman and Chief Executive, were given a surprise function to mark their 40th Anniversary of Service to ANSA McAL on Friday 09th September, 2011.
Mrs. Gomes began her career at Charles McEnearney & Co Limited. She was subsequently recommended for the position of Secretary to the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Conrad O’Brien where she remained with Mr. O’Brien until his retirement in 1987. Mrs. Gomes worked with three subsequent Group Managing Directors of ANSA McAL: Mr. Joe Esau, Mr. Richard Jackman and Mr. Michael Mansoor and then finally with Mr. A. Norman Sabga from 1994 to the present.
Staff lauded her efficiency, professionalism, strength and the caring manner in which she attended to their needs. Her many affiliations including Chair of the St Patrick’s Pastoral Council, Eston Study Centre and Sisters of St Catherine of Siena were also highlighted.
Mr. A. Norman Sabga began his working career also in 1971 after returning to Trinidad from studies at Red RichCollege (UK) and Fordham University (New York). From 1986-1996 he served the Group as a Parent Board Director, Sector Head and Director of a number of Group Companies – his principal thrust at the time being the Trading and Distribution Sector. In 2000, Mr. Norman Sabga assumed the position of Chairmanship of ANSA McAL.
The Group Chairman’s love for game fishing was also highlighted as well as his commitment to his family and the success of the conglomerate. Staff thanked him for captaining the ship that is ANSA McAL for his continued guidance and inspiration.
