Trinidad Match Ltd, a subsidiary of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies, has become one of the first companies to receive a Product Certification License from the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards in the product category safety matches.

Trinidad Match worked alongside the Bureau to establish the local standard for safety matches, and after the revised standard was made compulsory in November 2013 the company undertook the certification process. Trinidad Match has been in existence for 127 years and will now be able to use the Bureau’s certification logo on its product. This logo will act as an assurance to local and export customers that the company has met the established industry standards. The license is renewable yearly and to maintain its certification Trinidad Match’s manufacturing process will be audited by the Bureau to ensure conformity.

The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Michael Baiz and its Operations Manager, Mr. Sheldon Vieira were on hand to receive the certificate from Senator the Honourable Vasant Bharath, Minister of Trade, Industry, Investment and Communications at the Ministers office. The Bureau’s Chairman, Dr. Puran Bridgemohan and Executive Director (Ag.) Mr. Theodore Reddock were also present for the official hand over.

Trinidad Match Ltd. is set to release a new product on local markets in November 2014.
