ANSA McAL Announces Bold ESG Targets Including Zero Recordable Injuries, Zero Waste to Landfill and Renewable Energy Growth

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – May 22, 2026 – ANSA McAL Limited has announced Group-wide Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets at its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and value creation across the Caribbean.

As one of the region’s largest conglomerates, ANSA McAL is embedding sustainability more deeply into its business strategy through clear, measurable targets that connect environmental responsibility with operational performance and long-term resilience. These commitments position the Group as a regional leader in sustainable business transformation, demonstrating how efficiency, profitability, and environmental impact can be aligned.

The Group has set three core ESG targets: reaching zero recordable injuries across all operations by 2030, achieving zero waste to landfill across its manufacturing operations in Trinidad and Tobago by 2035 and increasing renewable energy generation by 50% by 2035. Together, these commitments are designed to strengthen how the Group operates while delivering measurable environmental and social impact across the Caribbean. This announcement is timely as we join the international community in commemorating World Environment Day, themed Now for Climate on June 5th.

Workplace safety remains a key priority, with ANSA McAL reaffirming its commitment to achieving zero recordable injuries by 2030. The Group continues to strengthen safety systems and operational practices to ensure every employee and contractor works in a safe environment and returns home safely each day.

ANSA McAL’s zero waste to landfill target builds on existing recycling and waste reduction efforts across its manufacturing sectors. The Packaging Sector has already generated nearly TTD $3 million in savings through recycled glass recovery, while ANSA Coatings Limited continues to explore waste reduction initiatives expected to reduce both environmental impact and costs.

In parallel, the Group is expanding its investment in renewable energy to support long-term resilience and energy efficiency. At CARIB Brewery Grenada, the installation of 540 solar panels has already delivered energy savings of more than TTD $500,000, highlighting the operational and financial benefits of this transition.

“The Caribbean has unique sustainability challenges, but also tremendous opportunity for leadership and innovation. Through these targets, ANSA McAL is taking a proactive approach to helping shape a more resilient and sustainable future for the region,” said Melanie Richards, Head of Sustainability & Social Impact.

“This is about positioning ANSA McAL for the future while contributing to the future of the Caribbean. We are making measurable commitments today because we believe sustainable business practices will define resilient and competitive organisations in the years ahead,” said Group CEO Anthony N. Sabga III.
