The companies within this sector were carved out of the Manufacturing Sector, to ensure that greater attention and emphasis could be placed on growing the value proposition and efficiencies across these subsidiaries that service the Construction industry.
This sector manufactures and represents a full array of products and services, specified to meet all International Standards. This is evident in the products which fall within this Sector; ABEL clay products, Bestcrete concrete products, Penta Paints, Sissons Paints and the newly acquired Berger Paint.
Our clay and concrete products are manufactured in Trinidad within our state of the art facilities, utilising environment-friendly technologies.
ANSA Coatings operates plants in both Trinidad and Grenada, along with Berger Paints that has plants in Trinidad, Barbados and Jamaica.

Over time, key partnerships have been formed with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Guinness, Interbrew, Ginseng-Up Corp and Diageo, and have resulted in several international brands being produced under license for local and export consumption. The ANSA Financial Services Sector, which is made up of ANSA Merchant Bank, Tatil General | Life, Bryden’s Insurance Barbados and Consolidated Finance, offer a wide range of financial solutions in Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. ANSA McAL are the majority shareholders of publicly traded Guardian Media Limited. Guardian Media runs a multimedia operation with presence in print, radio, television, electronic billboards and digital media, making it the most comprehensive media company in the Caribbean.
Most of its operations are in Trinidad and Tobago, with the Guardian daily and Tobago Todayweekly newspapers, CNC3 television, six radio stations, electronic billboards and an increasingly strong digital presence. More recently, Guardian Media also branched out to Guyana with the launch of Mix 90.1FM.
It has operational centres in Port-of-Spain, Chaguanas, San Fernando and Scarborough (Tobago), providing state of the art facilities for in-house and commercial tv, radio and print production. It also has radio studios and production facilities in Georgetown, Guyana.
Guardian Media was recently restructured to reflect the converging needs of today’s media operations and to make the most of digital media opportunities. Instead of platform-specific vertical divisions it now has a more dynamic and flexible structure focused on content, sales and operations.
ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd is a conglomerate of companies across a diverse range of industries which consists of many acquisitions and mergers over many years of operating in Barbados and currently employs in the region of 750 staff members.
Charles McEnearney & Company Ltd of Trinidad and his Barbados counterpart Charles MacKenzie started business on October 22nd 1922 as the Ford and Firestone dealer for Barbados. In 1980, McEnearney Alstons (Barbados) Ltd an investment holding company was incorporated into which McEnearney Alstons Ltd of Trinidad (later ANSA McAL Ltd) and the shareholders of Charles McEnearney & Co Ltd, Barbados invested cash and shares respectively.
