Trinidad and Tobago was one of the first Caribbean territories to begin brewing its own lager beer in 1950. Since then, CARIB Brewery has built a solid reputation as being the Caribbean beer, with subsidiaries producing and operating in Trinidad, St. Kitts & Nevis, Grenada and the United States.

Over time, key partnerships have been formed with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Guinness, Interbrew, Ginseng-Up Corp and Diageo, and have resulted in several international brands being produced under license for local and export consumption. These include Guinness stout, Mackeson Stout, Ginseng-Up, Carlsberg Beer, Smirnoff Ice and Heineken.
