Job Summary:

The Senior Reporter/ Producer – Investigative will be responsible for producing news content for all Guardian Media platforms. He/she will collaborate with Editors and Producers to ensure news content is balanced, fair and accurate. The position produces newscasts and other news content and programmes across media platforms.

Responsibilities:

1. Produce accurate, relevant and timely reports for all platforms.
2. Use data, field reporting and online sources to conduct research and interviews to create strong contextual reports.
3. Communicate with the Lead Editor- Investigative to determine story angles and requirements for each medium.
4. Collaborate with Photographers/Videographers to create strong visuals and images for multimedia platforms.
5. Ensure that news products are editorially and technically sound, and fulfill the criteria by including strong angles, legal protection, proper timing and graphic elements.
6. Collaborate with Graphics and other departments to create unique storytelling ideas.
7. Post content to social media/digital platforms in a timely manner.
8. Collaborate with content, digital and broadcast teams to write and edit copy for multimedia platforms.
9. Host, present or anchor news programmes on TV/ Radio or other multimedia platforms.
10. Create show rundowns/ headlines and ensure they are well ordered to create high-quality programmes across media platforms.
11. Liaise with reporters/editors on story angles, story times and other elements of the newscasts such as teases and stand-ups.
12. Perform any other related duties as assigned by Manager or any other designated individual

  Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism/Mass Communications/Communications Studies or any related field is required
• A Master’s Degree would be considered an asset
• Previous experience as an Investigative Reporter would also be considered an asset.

Experience

• A minimum of 7- 10 years’ work experience in a media industry
• Must have 3 years working experience with specialized investigative reporting
• Experience in a multimedia environment would be an asset.
