Alstons Shipping Ltd, and Royal Caribbean International & Celebrity Cruises recently created history by carrying out a first time major logistics project undertaking involving a Cruise ship at LABIDCO’s port facility at La Brea.
Arriving from Santos Brazil and en route to dry dock in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas, the 180 metres, 30,277 ton Luxury Liner MV Blue Dream called at LABIDCO and completed a very successful 24 hour logistics operation.

Alstons Shipping and its team of professionals were responsible for coordinating and executing logistics management to support the operation which included the importation and loading of 34 container loads of new upscale bathroom and cabin furnishings; and the discharging of an equivalent volume of materials for disposal and export. Arrangements for Regulatory compliance, Port, vessel and crew joining, customs brokerage and haulage were all managed by Alstons Shipping. The operation was carried out with the full support of LABIDCO’s Management and Authorities including Customs and Excise, Port Health and Immigration and Marine Pilots.

Royal Caribbean’s Javier Alegre – Manager, New Generation, Newbuilding and Fleet Design, Captain Michael Kucharski – Port Captain, George Derby Manager Logistics and Brett Vitols- Project Manager were exceptionally satisfied with the level of professionalism, nimble response to last minute requests and delivery within the extremely time sensitive timeframe.

The MV Blue Dream completed its mission earlier than schedule and sailed out from LABIDCO loaded with the necessary materials and some 78 technical personnel who joined the ship in Trinidad, to continue its cabin revitalization. On completion from dry dock the ship will be renamed and will enter passenger service as Celebrity Journey.
