ANSA McAL in collaboration with Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica) Department of Education is currently hosting a Literacy Summer Camp for children of that region.
The summer camp commenced on July 16, 2018 and concludes on July 28, 2018. The camp is being conducted in two (2) phases, the first was held at Betterverwagting Primary School and the second at Grove Primary School on the East Bank.
The estimated attendance is in excess of 300 children. In addition to reading and writing, the children participate in creative activities such as, arts and crafts, and are being taught the importance of being a model Citizen.
During the first week of the camp which was held at the Betterverwagting (BV) Primary School, children were brought by Buses from towns as far as Mahaica and Sparendaam.
ANSA McAL’s very own Ms. Lopes and Mr. Massiah frequent the camp to lend their support. Mr. Barker also visited and spoke to the children about the various products which ANSA McAL Trading distributes.
Everyday of the camp ANSA McAL Trading Limited provides refreshments such as Smalta, iCool juice and water as well as snacks like Chiefeez for the children and facilitators.
At the end of the first week, all the children were presented with Mak-C Water Bottles to be used for the re-opening of the new school year.
The second phase at Grove Primary on the East Bank Demerara, commenced on Monday 23rd July, 2018. Regional Education Officer (ag), Mrs. Harvey, Chief Literacy Coordinator, Ms Richards, and Representatives from the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) Region Four visited and partake in the camp during the first week.
