The prestigious Trinidad and Tobago Golf Open was held on February 3 & 4, 2007 and teed off with a record capacity field of 120 players at the St. Andrew’s Golf Course, Maraval. ANSA Merchant Bank (AMBL) and TATIL have sponsored $30,000 in prizes for the 15th consecutive year of this event.
Ray A Sumairsingh, Group Sector Head- Financial Services said that there was no hesitation in continuing to sponsor the tournament, which is run in partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association. It is the first championship tournament on the national golf calendar and this year it has attracted over 150 applications. The five classes are Championship, First Flight, Seniors, Super Seniors and Ladies. This tournament is significant in that it is being used by players to improve their ratings and earn points that may assist in securing places on the national team.
