Carib Brewery is the title sponsor of the popular Great Race Regatta. This year, the makers of world famous Carib Lager Beer donated TT$150,000 towards this major sporting event in the local calendar. The 40th Carib Great Race will be hosted on August 23, 2008. This momentous  80 mile powerboat race, follows a course which begins in Chaguaramas and follows along the Northern Coast  to Toco and onto Storebay in Tobago. It will be televised in 18 countries and also published “live” on the Internet.

At the launch at Pier 1,  Chaguaramas, Miguel Marquez, Marketing Managerof  Carib spoke of the sophisticated monitoring systems  which will be used at this year’s event, hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Power Boats Association. The new devices will track boats to ensure each craft remains in its categories, as well as shorten emergency response times .  He stated:

“This year’s race will take on added significance as all racers devise to become winner of the 40th edition of the arib Beer Great Race. Not only would htis year’s race be one of hte most competitive, but one of the safest.”

2008 Carib Great Race marks the eighth consecutive year that Carib has sponsored the event.
