Guardian Media Ltd’s Flood of Relief Telethon Raises $.3 million in Pledges

On Sunday 28th October staff from CNC3, TBC Network and the T&T Guardian continued its support to flood victims by hosting the Guardian Media Ltd (GML) Flood of Relief Telethon.

Members of the GML team from CNC3, the TBC Network and T&T Guardian hosted the event with support from some of Trinidad and Tobago’s star entertainers such as Neval Chatelal, Nalini Akal and Ziggy Ranking. Greenvale’s very own Isasha performed his new track, “We got love”, which was inspired after he witnessed the outpouring of love and support towards persons affected by the disaster.

Representatives from various NGOs – Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross Trinidad and Tobago also came to share their stories about the recent flooding and how they assisted.

Trinidad and Tobago citizens called in to make monetary pledges to help their fellow countrymen and donate as best they could.
By the end of the evening, approximately $300,000.00 dollars in pledges was raised.

GML’s Managing Editor Mr. Julian Rogers said, “We’ve had so many people come and contribute to this exercise. There really is only one word- Successful.” He went on to say that the telethon was just the beginning of the relief for those affected by the floods. Mr Rogers also thanked the employees, entertainers, NGOs and stakeholders who participated in the event.
