Sabga School of Entrepreneurship and the Guardian Media School of Journalism.
On Monday 1st December 2014 ANSA McAL Ltd. hosted a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of the West Indies –St. Augustine Campus and ANSA McAL Ltd. for the construction of the Anthony N. Sabga School of Entrepreneurship and the Guardian Media School of Journalism. Present at the ceremony were Mr. A. Norman Sabga – ANSA McAL’s Group Chairman and Chief Executive, Dr. Anthony N. Sabga – ANSA McAL’s Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Grenfell Kissoon – Chairman of Guardian Media Limited and Professor Clement K. Sankat – Pro Vice Chancellor & Campus Principal of the University of the West Indies among other Executives from both organizations. Mr. Sabga and Professor Sankat delivered remarks to commemorate the occasion.
Professor Clement K. Sankat – Pro Vice Chancellor & Campus Principal of the University of the West Indies described ANSA McAL’s contribution to the University as the largest benefaction it had received from private sector entities, including multi-national companies. Professor Sankat defined the occasion as an emotional one and expressed his gratitude to the ANSA McAL Group for their continued support of the University of the West Indies. He indicated that construction on the buildings which would house the two new schools would begin early in 2015 at the University’s St. Augustine Campus.
ANSA McAL’s Group Chairman and Chief Executive, Mr. A. Norman Sabga reminded those in attendance that the company’s partnership with the University was not a new one since the ANSA McAL Psychological Research Centre at the University has been in existence since its opening in 1989.
Mr. Sabga reiterated that many of the Laureates who benefitted from the Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence originated from the University’s family. The Group Chairman also spoke about his hopes that these future structures would boast packed classrooms of hungry minds that would breed the future generations of journalists and business professionals in the region.
