Grenfell Kissoon has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of GML. His appointment takes effect from September 1. Kissoon replaces Dennis Gurley who retires from the Board after 11 years of service. Kissoon was the former MD and Media Sector Head of GML (formerly TPCL) and retired from his executive position in 2009. Kissoon also served as a member of the ANSA McAL Board over the period 2001 to 2010.
Gurley had indicated his intention to retire from the Board since March 2013, but said he would wait until a suitable candidate had been identified. He said he was happy that a good replacement had now been found and he could comfortably move on. He said: “Grenfell was an excellent choice for Chairman,” having regard to his extensive and notable managerial and industry experience. He expressed the view that the Company was fortunate to have the services of such a well-qualified and experienced professional.
Gurley said he thoroughly enjoyed his 11-year tenure on the board and was leaving the company in an excellent position. He expressed confidence in the ability of the new board and management “to build upon the solid foundation.” Other members of the Board are: Diane Chatoor, Conrad Sabga, Gilbert Peterson, Clement Sankat, Peter Clarke and Gabriel Faria. Dr Hamid Ghany joins the board effective September 1.
