‘Breakthrough’ artistes to battle for Ford Ranger
Hollice Mapp (Mr Killa), Lornette Reid (Fya Empress) and the youngest entrant in the Soca Monarch competition, Kimel Rivas, were among those present as Ansa Automotive Ltd announced a Ford Ranger as the prize for the newly-formed category Carib Breakthrough Artiste of the Year. The new category, in conjunction with International Soca Monarch and Slam 100FM, will feature as part of the popular International Soca Monarch contest.
The launch was held yesterday at Ford Trinidad’s showroom, Richmon and London Streets, Port-of-Spain. The new category will see 24 entrants vying for the prize. Other entrants include Cassiano Sylvester (Cassi), Marvin Davis (Swappi) and Junior Noel (Mr Famous). The artistes said they were ready for Sunday’s Soca Monarch semifinals to be held at the Arima Velodrome.
