Chairman and Chief Executive of ANSA McAL, Mr. A. Norman Sabga, right, Mr. Neil Parsanlal, Board Chairman – National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), left, President Anthony Carmona and wife, Mrs. Reema Carmona pose with the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in during the handing over ceremony held at the President’s House, St Ann’s. The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (O.R.T.T) was returned to the country by the ANSA McAL Group and presented to NALIS, who will act as the custodian of the nation’s highest award.
His Excellency, Anthony Carmona, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was host and witness to the handing over of the ceremony at President’s House, St. Anns. The O.R.T.T was awarded posthumously to Trade Union Leader, Adrian Cola Rienzi in 2012, but was put up for sale on e Bay in March 2016. The Group took the decision to secure this order on behalf of our employees and the people of Trinidad and Tobago. We recognise and understand the significant value and patriotic pride for such an honour to be bestowed upon any citizen and believe that patriotism should transcend feelings of partisanship and insularity more than anything, it is the nationalistic fewer of our employees that was the contributing factor of such an important gesture.
We fought for this medal, not because of any monetary value but because it was a chance to restore the values on which this Group was built – Dignity, Decency, Honesty, Integrity, Gratitude and Humility.
Plans are being made by NALIS for a special showing of the O.R.T.T to coincide with Labour Day schedule for Sunday 19th June 2016.
