Assistant Accountant

Job Summary:

The Assistant Accountant will perform duties and provide support for ANSA Polymer’s local Accounts Payable and Inventory Management system. The goal is to ensure the smooth and efficient operations in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures to deliver maximum value to the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enter and update D365 Accounts Payable Module in the sub ledger with invoices with correct GL accounts being used with 99% accuracy on a daily basis within 24 hours of receipt of product receipts to ensure accuracy and management of liabilities and payments to suppliers.                                                                               
  • Prepare payments for all Suppliers and ensure they are paid within 3 days of cutting cheque or as cash flow permits, excluding foreign purchases and also reconciliations are attached when submitting payment proposals for sign off, with 99% accuracy.                                                                                                            
  • At month-end prepare, key and post journals for provisions /accruals for liabilities that were not received by the 2nd working day of the following month, with 99% accuracy.   • Complete all Group Recons and Confirm all Group Balances by mid-day of the 2nd working day, with Schedule 16 updated with zero discrepancies.                                                                         
  • Prepare all Reconciliations for liability accounts on the Balance Sheet on a monthly basis by mid-day of the 3rd working day of the following month.                                                                           
  • Prepare payments for all utilities, stock, payroll, expenses and services are paid on time or as cash flow permits.                                                                                                                     
  • Prepare schedule of all local payments every Monday by 9am
  • Complete >95% supplier reconciliations against AP SL by the 3rd working day of the following month, investigate and resolve all discrepancies and are one month old.                                                                
  • Review the supplier reconciliations performed by the Accounting Officer, ensuring accuracy of same and there are no rolling issues older than one month.
  • Plan, execute and oversee the monthly and quarterly stock count to ensure all variances are investigated and adjusted within 3 working days on completing the stock count in accordance with Blue Books Policy.
  • Observe and make recommendations for system and procedural improvements on inventory control
  • Review of all Inventory Adjustments on a monthly basis, ensuring >99% accuracy and timeliness of postings.
  • Review and ensure Inventory Subledger to GL is reconciled with zero variances by the 3rd working day of the following month. There should be no negative inventory balances and maintain overall accuracy of inventory.
  • Projections for next 3 months provisions must be completed by 4th working day of the following month. This listing must be circulated to the relevant teams and must lead and drive the exercise to ensure provisions are avoided by operations and marketing team.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • ACCA Level II
  • A professional accounting qualification from a recognized institution.
  • At least four (4) years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Working experience with a Financial Accounting package would be an asset.
  • And / Or two (2) years working experience in the same or similar position.
