Production Planner

Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for creating the master production schedules (unconstrained plans – requirement) and the detailed production plans (constrained plans – feasible production) for the manufacturing company. The production planner must facilitate the alignment of forecasts with budgeted sales, operational and financial plans in conjunction with Finance, Operations and Sales and Marketing. The Production Planner must also analyze sales and inventory trends to continuously improve master data, inventory policies and materials requirements through the ERP system. The Production Planner must understand how to improve working capital and inventory turns, reduce inventory provisions and be able to assess upcoming raw material or packaging risks to supplying in full manufactured products.

Job Description:

  • Work as a part of the Operations team and Supply Chain teams to produce production plans in line with Sales requirements, production budget and to improve the OTIF rating of the company.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the DSP plans to drive long and short-term profitability.
  • Liaise with Demand planner to ensure production is OTIF to maximize availability of finished goods. 
  • Liaise with the Supply planner and Purchasing Officer to ensure purchasing is OTIF to maximize availability of raw materials and packaging for production and finished goods for resale.
  • Perform statistical analysis and generate 6 month rolling production schedules, and 2-month fixed production plans for operations planning.
  • Calculate raw materials requirements and give requirements to procurement to ensure all raw materials and packaging needed for the production process are available.
  • Reduce aged inventory and improve inventory turns for all raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
  • Manage and provide performance reports relating to operations and supply chain, including percentage in stock, inventory reports, production volume reports, production plans, and analyses related to all manufactured goods.
  • Oversee activities across operations, warehouse and purchasing departments to identify and report on critical materials weekly to reduce stock outs and reduce disruptions to the unconstrained plan.
  • Provide feedback to the demand planners to adjust sales forecast monthly where problems are recognized.
  • Create short term (3-6 month) projections for raw material, packaging, and manufactured goods requirements from sales forecast. Liaise with other raw material and production planners to improve buying decisions, ensure OTIF of all production items and reduce inventory levels without reducing availability.
  • Review and manage all master data and inventory policies for all raw material, packaging and manufactured items including lead times, minimum order quantity, order multiples, items coverage and safety stock to improve accuracy.
  • Approve requirements for all Raw materials, packaging, and manufactured items.
  • Liaise with internal customers and purchasing departments to ensure timely delivery of products on site.
  • Promoting safety awareness and the development of a Safety culture within the company.
  • Conduct any other related duties that may be assigned by the Operations Manager or DSP Manager.
  • Compliance with Ansa Mcal Group Policies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Supply chain / Logistics / Finance / Mathematics & Statistics / Engineering / Business or a related field.
  • Experience in Material Requirement Planning and Forecasting Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Experience in Supply Chain / Logistics, experience with MRP Software would be an asset.
  • 3 years’ Experience in Inventory Management/Manufacturing Sector would be an asset.
  • Exposure to coatings industry would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel. Experience with MS Power BI.
  • Ability to build effective relationships, whether internally or externally
